Peter & Lucy’s Vintage Romance
A DIY DREAM
Ever heard the story of two lovebirds who met at a friend’s wedding and are now married?
♥ ♥ ♥
The romantic story of how Peter met Lucy is just that! Having met at a friend’s wedding, the pair are now newlyweds and couldn’t be happier!
Dressed up in the romance that is vintage, their handmade wedding day was filled with all that we love!
With plenty of DIY creativity such as her DIY Wedding Bouquet {Paper Flower Tutorial} that she shared, our Real Bride Lucy from Cape Town also shares a few of her special moments and magical touches, which made her big day, a day to remember.

The Vintage Romance Wedding Look
Add a touch of vintage, Achieve a ton of romance
The Bridal Accessories: Plain, simple and sophisticated vintage elegance. As an artist, Lucy was inspired to create earrings and bracelets for her bridesmaid and herself.
The Wedding Gown: An Elbeth Gillis creation, Lucy’s flawless wedding gown embodies vintage romance.
The Bridal Bouquet and Bouttaniere: Using her artistic talent, Lucy created her own DIY paper bouquet and shared her artistic tricks in our DIY Wedding Bouquet {Paper Flower Tutorial}. Using the techniques of origami (a paper floral decoration), Lucy also created corsages for her bridal party and boutonnières, which Peter and the groomsmen wore. Lovely Lucy shares the tutorial for this DIY Paper Origami Lily Vintage Wedding Corsages & Boutonnières to show you how to create your own.
The Wedding Ceremony
The Venue: With its tall trees and green surroundings, Silvermist Mountain Lodge, in Silvermist, Hout Bay was the perfect venue for their wedding.
Saying their “I do’s”: The couple had a simple, yet meaningful ceremony. After becoming officially married, they chose to have a ribbon ceremony to mark their unity as a married couple.
The Confetti: Recycling paper from an old phonebook, Lucy folded DIY paper confetti cones and filled them with a mix of fresh and dried flower petals. Handmade confetti cones for your wedding day can easily be created to match the theme of your wedding day. For our {Real Bride Feature} A Fairy Tale Wedding Theme, confetti cones were created using the pages of a fairy tale book!
Basking in the “just married” glow, Lucy and Peter took a few moments by themselves.
The Wedding Reception
Their wedding decor included simple touches of white and silver. Pebbles, ribbons, lace and fairy lights added to the vintage romance theme.
Guest Seating Plan and Wedding Favors: The guest seating plan was hung using strips of transparent silver ribbon. For the wedding favors, each guest including the vendors received a beautiful ivory lace and dark grey hand painting with a personal note thanking each guest for being there. Guests were thrilled at each receiving such a thoughtful and one-of-a-kind gift, handmade by Lucy.
Table Names: Pebbles and candles were carefully scattered on a circular mirror and used as table decor. Name placings and table numbers were stylishly placed amongst the decor.
Wedding Guest Book: Lucy chose a small guestbook keepsake in which each guest could write their personal well-wishes for the newlyweds.
Wedding Cake: Displayed upon a white tablecloth and strip of grey lace, their wedding cake was designed to include a silver ribbon decoration to tie in with the theme.
An artistic sculpture of a couple was used as an unusual cake topper.
A pebble decorated with a strip of beaded lace and ribbon was tied to the cake knife.
The Treats: A delicious sweet table was laid out for their guests to enjoy.
Different sized jars were filled with colourful sweets and treats .
The First Dance: The couple took to the dancefloor as their guests watched them taking their first dance together as husband and wife.
