Scott and Lauren’s whimsical outdoor orchard wedding in Camarillo was elegant, relaxed and laid back. Surrounded by blueberry fields, lemon trees, avocado trees, and orange trees, this outdoor wedding was all about natural Southern Californian beauty. The couple let the scenery and the spring wedding season inspire their ivory, blush, gold and green color palette, working with planner and event designer Chantal Martinez.
“We took any opportunity we could to make the day feel more relaxed for our friends and family, ” explains the couple. “Our best friend officiated! We had a short ceremony, open bar, games, a fun photo booth with props and cocktail napkins with silly facts about us. We wanted it to feel a little like a backyard hangout.”
Aura Elizabeth Photography captured the light-filled moments of their airy, outdoor wedding.
Love Story: We met in college in a creative writing class. On the first day, our professor asked us to get the names and phone numbers of 3 classmates… I was the 4th phone number Scott asked for. 😉 He would pretend to forget the homework as an excuse to text me!
We were engaged at our favorite place in the world – a special cabin at Big Sur. The river was rippling in the background, the sun was setting, there was a chill in the air and we were surrounded by autumn trees. It was absolutely perfect.
Whimsical Outdoor Orchard Wedding Camarillo
My top priority for my wedding dress was COMFORT! I chose a sheath-style dress and low-key hairstyle that I’d feel pretty and comfortable in all night.
Scott liked the idea of wearing a dark blue suit (little less formal than black) and I thought it complemented the ivory dress I wore really well.
For our outdoor wedding reception, we incorporated as much greenery as possible. Neutral-toned flowers complemented the beauty of the venue. The lantern centerpieces were designed by my mom, so they were really special!
We had vegan options for dinner and used recycled cocktail napkins at the bar.
Wedding Planning Advice:
- Plan 10 minutes alone with your partner on the day-of. Whether it’s a first look or a sunset photoshoot after the ceremony, having a moment to soak it all in alone together is so special.
- Pick your battles – at the end of the day you’re marrying your best friend, and nothing can dampen that joy.
- Surround yourself with love and friends after the big day! You just spent months planning one of the most important days of your life, and now it’s…over?! After the high of the day wears off it can feel a little depressing having the day behind you and getting back into a normal routine. Surround yourself with friends and loved ones.
