Lauren and Forrest’s New York wedding was held at one of the most iconic spots around Dumbo, Brooklyn. Their wedding was filled with unique Brooklyn elements, including their waterfront ceremony featuring the epic NYC skyline. Photographer Asher Gardner captured these images which show off all their cool florals and Lauren’s gorgeous “King of Protea” bouquet, a super popular South African wedding flower.
The couple wanted an affordable Brooklyn wedding in August or September, ideally only a short walk away from their waterfront ceremony location – The Dumbo Loft was perfect! “Our requirements were to pick a cool spot in Brooklyn, have delicious food, amazing music, and good wine and cocktails,” share the couple.
The first thing I confirmed when finding out I was getting married was the band— The Rakiem Walker project. They are incredible and sound amazing live. To this day I still have people asking about the music and making comments on how it was the best live music they’ve heard in a long time, and at a wedding.
I wanted a gown that was both romantic and a bit bohemian. I found the perfect look with Divine Atelier with a beautiful A-line silhouette and lace detail. My husband found an awesome suit which he felt comfortable in.
I wanted my bridal bouquet to non-traditional and unique, so I went with King Protea flowers.
We got married right by the water in Dumbo with Manhattan as our backdrop.
For our Brooklyn-inspired wedding reception, we wanted to keep the rustic Brooklyn vibe, and the venue naturally portrayed that.
I loved the exposed brick and open space. I brought in lighting, wooden farm style tables, and florals.
Our wedding florals were simple and elegant. We went with eucalyptus as table runners over exposed wood farm-style tables. We had seasonal flowers decorated around the space.
