Uniquely set at the Anton Smit Sculpture Park in Pretoria, South Africa, this stunning art gallery elopement is filled with modern design and oozes minimalist style with botanical details. Sohané Le Roux, who co-ordinated this shoot, and photographer Carolien Bron of Carolien and Ben Photography, were inspired by art and by the interesting spaces it usually occupies.
“We wanted to pair art elements with wedding elements to create an inspirational session for couples who want to explore different settings or decor ideas.”
They worked with an interesting mix of textures in a muted neutral colour palette against the backdrop of modern art to create an unforgettable elopement:
“We chose the Anton Smit Sculpture Park and Gallery for its contemporary space,” explains Sohane, “but also for the expressions of body language and human emotion portrayed in the sculptures. The solidity and harsh lines of the sculptures allowed us to create contrasting textures in all the other elements of our session.”
Chrystalace created invitation suite embracing old world charm matched with a modern botanical style. The black and white illustrations on the main invitation page are all custom illustrated to accompany the chosen wild and loose floral selection for the styled session.
The curated invitations suite is packaged in a black vertical envelope with printed envelope liner consisting of an antique fine art painting with a deconstructive scratched pen illustration. The artistic feel of the invitation is further motivated deckled edges, colour contrast and black wax seal component.
The botanical feel is further enhanced with an additional fine art print of yesteryear in a golden turmeric colour shade to add a touch of nostalgia.
Nouvelle floral design used an array of floral textures and key décor pieces to create a stark contrast between the floral elements and the environment in which the session was set. The delicate collection of flowers was arranged in a structured and modern way to blend into the sculptural pieces surrounding it while lending a soft elegance to the tablescape.
Flower and greenery included white peonies, white anemones, brown hydrangeas, rose heap berries, scabiosa pods and black rubber plant leaves.
Couture created the “Missy Dress” inspired by a royal aesthetic, using pearl dutch satin with an embellished beaded tulle skirt overlay. The bodice consisted of a romantic sweetheart neckline corset, covered with hand-stitched embroidered lace. The result was a romantic, rich and warm gown with gorgeous detailing.
