I just cannot get over how drop dead gorgeous today’s South African bride, Siza is! I think I am officially obsessed with her style. Starting with her bridesmaids in soft, flowing, pink gowns, to her choice of convertible mermaid-style Estelle Visser wedding gown with detachable ball gown skirt and its lace details, right through to her spectacular hairstyle. Her White Light wedding in Gauteng is quite simply amazeballs, with a side of stunning!
Throw in her handsome groom, Tebogo, their clean, sophisticated wedding reception with gold geometric details and then those touches of blush throughout… Goodness me, what more could you dream of? Oh yes, of course, spectacular images by Lucia Beukes of D’Amor Photography. Seriously, I’m done!
Sophisticated White Light Wedding in Gauteng
We met in first year of university and became friends, having been placed in the same residence. We became friends. Over time our friendship growing stronger, and I suspected he had feelings for me. I realized I had fallen for him and decided to give it a shot. Seven years into our relationship we chatted about getting married and agreed that Tebza would send his uncles to my family to begin lobola negotiations! Here we are, married and more in love than ever!
My dress was a 2 in 1 dress made of duchess satin with corded lace detail, sweetheart shape with a boat neck neckline and v back. The shape was a subtle mermaid dress with a detachable ball gown skirt with inverted pleats. I wanted clean and modern but classic and elegant style dress. It took 3 months to make. I loved my dress and felt like a million bucks.
I wanted to look like an African princess, I went with an up-do with an intricate funky hairpiece up-top.Click To Tweet
I decided on a classic bouquet of pink roses to tie in with the classic shape of my dress. The bridesmaids’ bouquet had a couple roses surrounded by baby breath to tie in with their long and flowy dresses. My girls got similar dresses in the shades of pink.
My husband to be wore navy suit – a strong color to offset the soft colour palette of the day.
The wedding ceremony area was decorated simply with big vases with pink and white roses on each side of the altar table.
I stumbled onto White Light online and immediately fell in love with it. I forwarded the link to my sister-in-law (lover of nice things), and she fell in love with it too. We casually considered asking the parents if we could have our wedding at White Light, ridiculous as we were convinced that our parents would never go for it. Being from Polokwane, we and our families expected that we would have our wedding back home.
We both fell immediately fell in love with the venue and after some convincing our parents came around to the idea too! After locking down a booking with our venue, we wanted to create a soft and romantic feel which we thought would go well with the simple, light, rustic country setting of the venue. We also loved the warm autumn light on our day.
Our colour palette was shades of soft pinks for the romance with whites to accent the clean lines of the venue. The soft pink was in contrast to the strong presence of colour (yellows, dark pinks, teal, oranges and lavender, reds) at our traditional (cultural) celebrations which were held at our family homes in Polokwane. My sisters created a beautiful table decor with flower runners of greenery, white and pink roses with pink hydrangeas.
Wedding planning advice:
- The wedding process can stressful, be organised. (I typed out everything!)
- Tackle elements of wedding in tiers, getting the bigger things out the way first.
- Avoid last minute purchases, this is a sure way to go over the set budget.Click To Tweet
