Jon & Michelle’s Love Amongst the Red Lillies
Following up with newlyweds, Jon and Michelle, whose {Engagement Shoot} A Family Affair we featured previously, we feature a collection of Shantelle Visser‘s photo magic documenting every part of their Big Day! With bride, Michelles favorite flower, a Lily, touches of this lovely flower combined with burgundy and black shades were incorporated throughout their wedding day.
The Venue
With the Zewenwacht Wine Estate as a beautiful backdrop to their wedding festivities, the couple were ensured a memorable wedding day filled with stunning scenery and an enchanting ambiance.
Getting Ready
Michelle wore a beautiful strapless wedding gown designed by Bridal Unique.
The Wedding Ceremony
Once dressed, the couple proceeded to their wedding ceremony with their bridal party in tow. Michelle carried an exquisite bouquet of deep red burgundy Lilies, which created a striking contrast against her white wedding dress.
Their wedding ceremony was held near water and under a canopy. Jon, Michelle and their son, James stood together as a family, before the pair walked off hand-in-hand, as husband and wife! So sweet!
The Wedding Reception
Jon and Michelle planned their own wedding, which they chose to keep intimate, by inviting a small number of guests. The couple really wanted a wedding that their guests could feel relaxed at and enjoy.
Wedding Cake: Michelle’s love for Lilies were incorporated into their wedding cake , which resulted in a beautiful cake creation!
Table Names: To add a special touch, instead of placing their guests names on the table seating cards, they decided to use guests nicknames, which Michelle says, “made it fun and a great conversation starter!”.
Photography: To capture the magical moments of the day, in addition to their photographer, Shantelle Visser, the couple had a second photographer, Smiley Faces, to snap photographs of their guests with fun props.
Mrs & Mrs Roth
After the festivities, the couple wandered off with their photographer to capture a few golden moments. A perfect ending to a perfect day!
Michelle’s advice to the bride-to-be: Michelle’s advises brides-to-be to stick to their budget and to invite those loved ones that they want to have share in their special day. She explains: “It is your day and you need to put boundaries in place”. Her other pearls of wisdom includes taking time to do-it-yourself. Inspired by wedding magazines, bridal expos and sources online, she saved money on decorations and even her garters, which she made herself and cost her next to nothing.
