Monia and Grant’s wedding day exuded a distinct beauty from start to finish. Pure white and touches of natural green floral decor laced the tables and hung from the ceilings to create a magical outdoor occasion!
Set at the Dornier Wine Estate in the tranquil Stellenbosch Winelands, feast your eyes on their inspirational South African wedding day shot by Adel Ferreira. The couple dreamt of a day that was all about being outdoors and celebrating their nuptials with their loved ones, great food, wine and music. And boy, how their dreams came true! Enjoy!
Outdoor White & Green Wedding Look
Natural beauty, Monia, looked exquisite in an elegant and romantic ensemble.
(Above Left) Monia didn’t want the day to be about the dress, but rather for it to reflect her personality and the overall feeling of the day. | (Above Right) The flower girl wore a cute lace dress.
(Above) Her romantic bouquet was a lush assortment of flowers in white, green and silver hues.

Outdoor White & Green Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony was held outdoors beneath a four-poster wooden arch where they read their personal vows in front of their loved ones.
Monia & Grant’s Love Story
While working as a recruitment consultant, Monia was contacting several candidates in order to update her company’s database and Grant happened to be one of the candidates. Monia recalls that throughout their conversation, she kept thinking how arrogant and full of himself he was! She even went as far as making a note about his character, so that she could remember him when placing him in front of clients. A few days later, Monia and her friends went to Forries Pub in Newlands where they were meeting a few mates and as she was introducing herself, Grant said, “Monia, from the agency? It’s me, Grant Davis”. And as they say, the rest is history!
The Tale Of Their Proposal
During a birthday celebration weekend away over the Bastille Day festival in Franschhoek last year, they were meant to run a trail run, but had both fallen sick with a cold. By early morning, Monia could no longer sleep as she was feeling unwell and Grant suggested she take a shower while he made her some tea. Grant served her breakfast and gave her a few birthday presents. Just as she thought she had opened them all, he got down on one knee and gave her the final gift – a diamond and asked her to marry him.
Outdoor White & Green Wedding Reception
Hosted on a porch, their wedding reception called for romantic fairy lighting and absolutely amazing wedding decor.
(Above) They found a gorgeous fireflies design on the internet, which was used consistently throughout their wedding invitations, menus, seating plan and guest place setting tags. The name tags worked beautifully tied to the stems of the wine glasses, serving a dual purpose; directing guests to their seats and ensuring that their guests knew where their glass was at all times.
Monia’s mother worked closely with floral designers, Okasie to create a magical venue decorated with suspended fairy lights, gorgeous white flowers displayed in a range of glass vases and even beautiful plants hanging from the rooftops over the tables.

Real Bride, Monia’s, Tips For Bride’s-To-Be
- Make sure that you and your fiancé agree on what you both want for the day and decide on who will do what.
- It’s your day. Although you should listen to people’s advice and suggestions as you can learn from them, she adds that you should be true to yourself and what you both want.
- Although details can really add that something special to your day, it can cause unnecessary stress. Monia suggests that you spend money on things that really make your wedding memorable such as a great venue, excellent food and wine and a super DJ. Everything else will fall into place around that.
- Invite people who you really want there and you add to your lives or have a special meaning. Not only will this will help keep the numbers and costs down considerably, but you will be able to really celebrate the day and it will be even more special.
- Mom does know best, so listen to her ideas and suggestions, says Monia.
- Get a photographer that you feel comfortable with and that understands exactly what you want. She explains that it will reflect in your photos and will be worth every cent.
- Don’t get stuck on small details, as people won’t remember them and you would have spent extra money unnecessarily.
- Create a webpage for your wedding invitations – There are no or very minimal costs and you can personalise it with stories of how you met, the proposal and details about your upcoming wedding. It is also a fun thing to do together, says Monia.
- Consider having your dress made – “You will be amazed how much you can save if you work through a reputable dress maker,” says Monia.
- Pinterest is a great place to get ideas and truly was a useful source of wedding inspiration for Monia.
