Polish-born couple Beata and Andrzej both moved to the US as teenagers. The couple met in NYC, years later, and fell in love. Last year they decided to celebrate their love by exchanging wedding vows on a warm sunny day in June. Theirs was a beautiful barn wedding reception set in an elegantly restored 19th century barn. The day was accentuated with gorgeous and classic rustic elements including white, ivory and gold decor, wood furnishings draped with natural green wreaths, and fresh flower boxes.
“The church ceremony was in a beautiful old 19th century church,” shares Beaya. “We incorporated some polish wedding traditions including a blessing before the church by parents, a salt and bread blessing, and, of course, by including a few polish songs and dances at the reception. Our band was amazing and we danced all night – we had a blast!”
These totally droolworthy images, captured by Maine Tinker Photography, let us enjoy the couple’s special day in all its splendor.
Elegant Barn Wedding
Love Story: We met at work in NYC/Brooklyn, however, we did not know we were both polish! We hit it off right from the beginning and the rest is history.
We got engaged on a beautiful beach in Montauk NY, one of our favorite places. We planned a low key, mid-week trip to Montauk NY in June to get away from the city and avoid the weekend crowds. I had absolutely no clue since it was a place we visited often. It was a gorgeous sunny day with clear blue sky and we had the beach to ourselves!
Elegant Barn Wedding in Maine
My ivory lace gown with nude and gold lining was floor length. It had longs sleeve, a natural waist and sweep train – a classic and elegant look. The sheath silhouette with natural waist and off the shoulder neckline on this dress have a very feminine and sensual appeal, which is exactly how I felt in it. The lace fabric was partially elastic, therefore the dress was super comfortable and moved with me easily.
My bouquet was made of ivory peonies. Bridesmaids bouquets had a mix of peonies, ranunculus, queen Anne’s lace and greens. They wore dresses of their choice in a neutral/pastel color. Our flower girls wore long white/ivory dresses and hair wreaths made of eucalyptus with small floral details.
To complement the gown’s long sleeves, and the birdcage veil, I wore my hair in a low braid up-do which exposed my face, neckline and shoulders a bit more.
We are both Roman Catholic. Our ceremony was held in a beautiful 19th century Roman Catholic church.
The groom wore a very classic and elegant black slim-fit tuxedo, white shirt with black and gold studded cufflinks, a black bow-tie and black shoes.
The groomsmen wore navy suits of their choice with white shirts and navy ties, separating them visually from the groom.
Guest Book Photobooth: We had a photo camper set up outside where our guests could take photos to put in a picture book along with their wishes. Our guest ‘photo’ book was completed by the end of the reception, a fantastic way to create an ‘instant’ memory.
Since the wedding venue was an old 19th century barn, I wanted flowers with a classic, vintage feel. I went with simple white flowers and greens
We had barn tables connected by ends to make two long tables on both sides of the barn. Our head table on one end created a U-shaped setting. It was perfect for a small and intimate wedding, and is also a more traditional polish wedding set up.
The floral arrangements were in low wooded crates, compact white/ivory flowers and lots of greens!
We chose barn tables with ivory lace runners and cross back wooden chairs.
Our table set up included lots of gold detailing and textured items to bring out the timeless classic elegance. Gold utensils, gold rimmed glassware/plates, crystal tall high-ball water glass for added texture and contrast, and small gold votives were mixed with big lanterns for added light and sparkle.
Wedding Planning Advice from the Bride:
- Don’t stress about small details and mishaps. You’ll find that almost no-one (besides you), will notice them in the end.
- Its a very special and one of a kind event in your life, enjoy it and have fun!
