Josie and Adam’s burgundy, blush and gold wedding at the Huguenot loft in downtown Greenville was a spring celebration captured by Jennifer Stuart Photography. Josie and Adam planned the wedding and reception themselves, incorporating a touch of New Orleans, where Adam’s family travelled from, by giving guests specially made Pralines.
They exchanged vows in front of a beautiful pink and white flower curtain, with wisps of greenery. We love that their reception was filled with blush and burgundy peonies and succulents, set in an assortment of gold, geometric vases!
Love Story: Although Adam and I initially met in our Philosophy class at University my sophomore year, it wasn’t until we were in class together two years later that we became really close friends. We continued our friendship until Adam asked if he could cook dinner for me at his home one night. Fast forward through a couple of moves and jobs later, to where we finally settled down in Charleston, SC.
To Adam’s dismay, our engagement did not go as planned. Adam woke up very early one Saturday morning and told me he was going to pick up coffee. Barely awake, I rolled over and went back to sleep. I finally got out of bed and took a shower. Realizing Adam still had not returned from getting coffee, I called him to make sure he was okay. He told me to go into kitchen, where on the counter he had left a note. It sent me on a scavenger hunt through Charleston where I eventually found Adam, with my wet hair and all, ready to say yes to my future husband! Since then, Adam continues to get up early on Saturdays, and you can still find me sleeping in!
Burgundy, Blush + Gold Wedding
My dress was lace with a nude slip underneath. The edges and train were scalloped. I felt so beautiful and didn’t want to take my dress off!
Our bridesmaids wore Bill Levkoff dresses in petal pink, with braids in their hair. I gave each bridesmaid Kate Spade earrings and bracelets which they rocked at the wedding! Our bouquets were romantic and whimsical, filled with peonies, ranunculus, sweet peas, jasmine vine and garden roses. The bridesmaids bouquets had pops of burgundy, with long pink ribbons.
Adam wore a Vera Wang tuxedo and with a St. Pierre bowtie. He sported a pair of Clemson socks for fun! The groomsmen wore Vera Wang tuxedos, bowties and succulents as boutonnieres.
Our ceremony was held at The Huguenot Loft. Anna, from Urban Petals, created the most beautiful flower curtain with pink and white flowers and wispy greenery. Lanterns lined the isle and wine crates held beautiful floral arrangements and lanterns at the top of the isle. My little brother played the violin as we walked down the isle and it was absolutely beautiful! My grandparents both read a Bible passage. We wanted our ceremony to show our love for each other and for all of our guests who supported Adam and I.
We had napkins printed with fun details about our relationship such as how we met, how Adam proposed, and where we were going on our honeymoon.
Our burgundy, blush and gold wedding centerpieces included lanterns with lots of greenery and beautiful flowers surrounding the lanterns. For the cocktail tables, we had geometric shapes filled with succulents. We had so much fun at our reception! Our goal was to get everyone on the dance floor and our DJ accomplished that!
Our guest book is a framed graphic picture of Adam, myself, and our dog Beaux. The graphic was created by our friend, Amanda Hamilton. We love it and it’s hanging in our home!
Wedding Planning Advice:
- Longer engagements allow for you to take advantage of sales, like purchasing your wedding dress on tax-free weekend or Black Friday.
- Trust your vendors! You hired them because you love their style so ask them for their professional opinions.
