Intricate and fine details – everything about Berta’s designs speaks to a woman’s body; seducing every curve, complementing every inch with delicate Chiffon, hand beaded fabrics and carefully crafted lace many of which are transformed to create unique textures and colors.
As with each of her inimitable collections, Berta’s Winter 2014 Bridal Collection draws inspiration from many different places: movies, theatre and history from Western Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries. In those days of prosperity in Europe, fashion was characterized by complex fabrics, lots of sleeves and long trains. Through Berta’s interpretation, she has launched a collection of seductive bridal gowns featuring open and illusion back designs and endless trains, many of which can be detached.
The Berta Winter 2014 Bridal Collection will be available shortly in over 20 boutiques around the world and from her flagship design house in Israel. The launch of her new line kicks off with a USA trunk show tour in January 2014. For more details, visit www.bertabridal.com.

Exclusive Behind The Scenes
Interview With Berta
Having been a designer for as long as she can remember, Berta likes to think that the highlight of her design career is still ahead of her, although she has enjoyed a few accomplishments in the past…
I started designing at the age of 21, and have been doing that for 17 years now. Although I started doing that for a living at the age of 21, I was always a designer. My parents always tell the funniest stories about my childhood – how I used to criticise the way that they and their friends used to dress, and how as a five year old girl, I started giving my mother fashion tips, mainly on how to improve her look using accessories and such.
Of her many successes as a designer, Berta shares a few pivotal moments, which stand out for her.
Designing all of the bridal and evening gowns for the Miss Israel beauty contest for 2013, designing the gowns for the Israeli contender at Miss Universe 2013 – but no doubt, THE highlight was designing the bridal gown for my daughter’s wedding. I designed 3 custom-made gowns for her wedding day. It was an amazing wedding – it was even featured in Grace Ormonde Wedding Style Magazine.
Berta’s passion and hands-on involvement in her designs is reflected by the intricate detailing and exceptional quality of each of her dresses.
I can honestly say that my enthusiasm of designing never grew weaker, exactly the opposite. I’m enjoying the art of design nowadays more than ever before. What is very unique in my collections, is that I personally design each and every gown on my own. Every gown involves a long process of drafts, scratches and handmade sewing. I have a big department of very talented seamstresses who create all my designs completely by hand.
The Berta Signature Style
Berta describes her signature style that has won over so many brides.
My collection is very versatile, I try to invent myself all the time. And yet, the common thing you’ll find in all of my designs is the fit and the cut. I make my designs in a way that they will complement the bride’s shape and will accentuate her beauty. Many of my designs are sexy, but in a very subtle manner.
Boasting designs that surpass trends, Berta shares her source of inspiration for her unique design style.
There is one thing I must be honest about – I don’t navigate according to trends. If you’ll have a good look at my collections, you’ll see that I was always different. I don’t like to follow trends, I like to think of my designs as timeless. Many of my designs are vintage looking, so they can’t get old and irrelevant – they are too old to begin with.
The Creative Process
One of my signature designs is a long-sleeved gown, made from white lace with nude underneath. It’s the image where the model is sitting on a mantel. This is a very complicated design, made from handmade lace, with pearls across the neckline and back and beading in the shoulders. The “mother” of this design was an evening gown that I designed for my youngest daughter. When designing that gown, I wanted to create a dress that would communicate her personality and complete her. The process was surprisingly fast – I finished designing it in a matter of days. It was almost magical.
After people saw this gown on my daughter, the reaction was overwhelming. So I decided to change it a bit and to make it a bridal gown. It became a signature piece overnight.
Advice for Selecting the Perfect Wedding Gown
Keep in mind that your wedding dress is THE most important thing. You can compromise on many things – food, music, drinks, photography – they’re all important of course, but the only thing you will truly regret is not wearing your dream wedding dress. That’s what people will remember, and that’s what you will look at when you’re looking at your wedding albums 20 years from now.
