Vintage Romance Wedding Look

Vintage Romance Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony was hosted in the Nooitgedacht Estate’s chapel. At the entrance to the chapel, a chalkboard sign created by couple displayed a quirky message and little wire hearts were hung along the wedding aisle.
Tanith and Henry’s Love Story
Although Tanith and Henry had shared the same group of friends for quite a few years, they were never that close. However, the pair began to get to know each other better after they were both going through a similar situation and ended up being each other’s support and strength. It was during this time that feelings developed between them and the rest as they say, is history!

The Tale Of Their Proposal
The couple had planned a road trip around the country, which started off in Southern Drakensberg. On the second day of their trip, they decided to go for a hike, as Henry seemed very keen to attempt one of the hikes that led to a waterfall. Needless to say, the trail was not well marked at all and there were all sorts of forks where they just had to guess which way to go. As the Drakensberg region is well known for afternoon thunderstorms, Tanith grew worried when clouds started to appear. However, Henry was extremely adamant about reaching the waterfall and so they carried on.
Upon reaching the waterfall, it was an absolutely breathtaking sight to behold! As she sat down to admire the scenery, Henry asked if she wanted an apple from the snacks that they had brought along. “I said yes and he sat down next to me with an apple-shaped ring box in his hand and asked me to marry him,” recalls Tanith. It took her a few seconds to realise what was happening and after a few seconds she choked out a YES amid tears of happiness!! They savoured the moment and the beautiful waterfall for a while longer, before returning to their chalet. Fortunately, the thunderstorm made it’s appearance only later when they were safely in their chalet sharing the news with their families!

The bridal party were dressed in pastel and neutral colours. The bridesmaids wore dusty pink wrap dresses in a style to suit their individual body shapes and carried bouquets of Baby’s Breath. The groomsmen wore taupe suites with succulent boutonnières.
Vintage Romance Wedding Reception
For their wedding reception décor, the couple wanted to create a mix and match setting on each table. To avoid all of the tables looking identical, they had three different centrepieces: wire penny farthing, birdcages and glass domes that contained a beautiful display of proteas and succulents.
(Above) The couple created all of their wedding stationary using the same colour paper, ribbon and lace to keep within the neutral colour scheme. For the name cards on each table, different quotes were printed beneath each guest’s name, which was a huge hit with their guests. The wedding favours supplied by My Pretty Vintage were custom-made wire bicycles, which served as the holders for the name cards.
(Above) All tables had a stack of vintage books wrapped in ribbon or lace as well as jars with candles and tins of succulents.
(Above) The succulent floral table arrangements were placed in old tins that were spray-painted in an ivory colour and adorned with Hessian and lace. Mini candle jar holders were also decorated with glued lace and ribbon.
(Above) Their wedding flowers were a mix of light, pastel coloured roses & flowers, proteas and succulents that were displayed in rustic tins tied with Hessian and lace.

Real Bride, Tanith’s, Tips For Bride’s-To-Be
- Give yourself enough time to plan a wedding – Planning a wedding takes alot of time, says Tanith
- “Get everyone in your wedding party involved,” advises Tanith, as this will take stress off you and it’s great for bonding.
- Be honest with each other when setting up the guest list – Although it would be lovely to have everyone you know there, it is very expensive so once you have made a decision, stick to your guns and don’t let your loved ones guilt you into additional invites.
- Don’t get involved in family & friends squabbles regarding the wedding – Remember that the day is about you and your partner sharing the day with your loved ones.
- Try not to form a preconceived idea in your head of what the day will look like and how it should go – Tanith explains that things will never go exactly as you imagined so she advises that, “if something doesn’t go according to plan, don’t stress, the day really does fly by so quickly so don’t forget the real reason for you being there!”
- Try to do and make as many things as possible – If you are in any way creative , she suggests that you try to make as many things as possible and to do what you’re able to, as it keeps costs down and is a great way to bond with your bridal party!
- Decide on what to splurge on and what to compromise on – They couple decided on one or two things that they didn’t mind splurging on and the rest they chose to compromise, cut back or look for alternatives.
- The first option is not always the best – Tanith advises that you shop around or try to do things yourself.
