Vintage Garden Wedding
Pink and Ivory
♥ ♥ ♥
Sarah and Paul from Pretoria, South Africa, exchanged their vows at the outdoor fairytale setting of The Shepstone Gardens in Johannesburg. As huge fans of vintage everything, especially music from years ago, they went all-out with vintage-inspired DIY projects from Sarah’s bouquet and flower girl dresses to the decor and even their wedding music playlist! Baby’s Breath and burlap suited the garden surroundings perfectly and were infused with touches of pretty pink to add a fresh zap of romance to their gorgeous wedding day. Romance-loving photographer, Moira West, was their to capture every moment.
Pink and Ivory Vintage Wedding Look
What a vision. Sarah wore a figure hugging low cut illusion back wedding dress that showed off a beautiful display of delicate lace and sheer material. Everything about her dress, jewellery and accessories were intricately designed, carefully created and detailed. And to top it all off, Sarah made her own keepsake bridal bouquet using buttons, beads and brooches galore! Our previous Trendy Tuesday: Button, Brooch & Fabric Bouquets feature showcased a stunning collection of these unique bouquets.

Sarah and Paul’s Love Story
Sara always knew about the infamous “Paul Gioia who played guitar” from school days but could not place a face to the name. Years after school, she became friends with a few of Paul’s friends and although Paul lived in London, they often hung out together. Upon his return, there were instant fireworks between the pair. Paul attempted to see more of Sarah by inviting her to gigs, but it was often that she was unable to go. Then one day, he invited a whole bunch of friends, Sarah included, to the coast and the very next day, Sarah decided to fly down and join them.
The Tale Of Their Proposal
It was the weekend of Sarah’s birthday and she did suspect something may happen. Paul decided to wait until the Sunday to pop the question when all of the festivities were supposed to be “over”. On the Sunday, he attached the ring to the collar of their Persian cat and insisted she investigate what he suspected were “ticks”, but instead was a beautiful engagement ring! Yay!
Pink and Ivory Vintage Wedding Reception
A beautiful venue hidden amongst the concrete jungle that is Johannesburg, The Shepstone Gardens venue was a feast for the eyes with its towering trees and rolling green lawns.

(Above) As a token of good luck for their marriage, an Origami crane mobile was created and displayed from a tree on the day. This outstanding Red White & Aqua Carnival of Love {Real Bride} was completely inspired by origami cranes and orchids and Chinese double happiness symbols.
(Above) Homemade fudge wrapped brown paper packets with doilies were given to all the guests as wedding favours.
(Above) For the flower vases, Sarah used recycled bottles and jars, which she covered with lace and burlap to give her table decor a vintage feel.
(Above) Antique silver trays from her mother’s personal collection were used for the centrepieces. The wedding floral decor were a beautiful, yet understated mix of tubor roses, lizianthus, heather and baby carnations and plenty of Baby’s Breath.
