Navy Blue Beach Wedding Inspiration ♥
Photographer and stylist, Kusjka du Plessis, from St Helena Bay on the West Coast of South Africa brings us today’s fabulous navy blue beach wedding shoot. “I was inspired by the West Coast Black Mussel, and the deep blues and purples of the shell,” explains Kusjka.
Geelbek Restaurant, situated in the West Coast National Park was the perfect setting. Colleen from Lieflingkind Design created hand-painted watercolour stationary, bringing out the beauty of the mussel with each stroke. Elmarie Leonard by Design designed a mesmerizing table setting, adding hardy flowers that are typical of Cape Town’s West Coast: succulents, pincushion proteas, local fynbos and blooms. Navy velvet ribbon detailing was wrapped around bell jars menus and bouquets. Shelley from The Cake Lady created beach-perfect mussel coloured cake in graduating ombre shades of purple, blue and white. Kusjka pointed out that the cake’s ruffles are reminscent of lobe coral – love that!
Anette Haughton Professional Hair & Makeup created two glamourous looks, one more inspired by the colours of the mussel shell, and another more vintage, Old Hollywood inspired look. Marissa from Titanium Hair styled the glam updos using a gorgeously unique, custom made silver hairpiece from Quench Jewellery using fresh water pearls and beautiful black mussel! Annaland‘s silver and blue ring with pear-cut stone is delicately delightful.
But you just have to wait untill you see the gowns designed by Elouise Roode Bridal & Evening Wear. The sheer illusion front, with a daring illusion back featuring a delicately placed lace applique creates a glamorous gown that is a total show-stopper that is my fave!
