Black Tie Affair
Georgetown, Washington DC
♥ ♥ ♥
What a stylish duo. Rachel and Ben tied the knot in the charming architectural playground of Washington, District of Columbia, United States where ebony and ivory were jazzed up with glittering touches of silver, which was just as striking as this Glamorous Gold, Green & White Wedding.
The lovebirds knew that they wanted to get married in or near their hometown of Arlington, VA. Since many of their friends and family were traveling from the Midwest, they figured it would be cool to have a “desertation” destination wedding in Washington DC.
Their luxury black tie affair was caught by Bright Bird Photography who added a unique spin to give it that ‘sophisticated something’ found in old movies.
Elegant White Wedding Look
Rachel looked too beautiful for words. Complementing the luxury and elegance of her wedding and reflecting her personal style, she opted for a timeless silhouette and subtle touches of sparkle in all the right places. Her figure-hugging Jasmine Couture wedding gown had a sweetheart neckline and a glittering sash to accentuate her waist. Everything from her bridal gown, bouquet and heels were chosen in classic white and ivory hues.
The bridesmaids were dressed in eggplant-colored knee-length dresses from J Crew with matching ivory floral bouquets.
Ben looked dapper in a tailored black tux with bowtie, rose boutonnière and not forgetting, the striped pair of colorful socks thrown in for a wacky touch.
Elegant White Wedding Ceremony
Their intimate church ceremony was held at the historic St. John’s Episcopal Church in Georgetown, which Rachel attended while growing up. With it’s beautiful stained glass windows, classic architecture and Ben’s childhood pastor presiding over the ceremony, it was the perfect way in which to exchange their vows.
After the ceremony, the couple paraded about town in dancing spirit to capture a few fabulous shots in the streets with lush gardens, architecture and the Capitol Building as a backdrop.
Elegant White Hotel Wedding Reception
Their Black Tie affair was hosted at The Willard InterContinental Hotel’s grand ballroom – a perfect mixture of historical charm and old school Washington class. Back in the 1940’s, the grand hallway of the hotel was a fave place for Rachel’s grandparent to spend their date nights, which made celebrating their wedding at such a venue, extra special for her.
Grand chandeliers, table centrepieces, candle lighting, loads of glassware and fresh ivory blooms created a classy night-on-the-town atmosphere made for indulging in dance, laughter and some bubbly!
Bowled over with wonder over classy hotel weddings such as this stylish affair? The great thing about timeless weddings is that they’ll never date and can be hosted at any venue with a trend or two added to the decor that reflects your unique style.
