A 1950’s Modern Day Wedding Affair
Hosted amid the rooftop of the Springfield Marriott, be inspired by this sky high glamorous 1950s cocktail wedding setting filled with the classy, debonair style of the 50s set amongst the modern city landscape. Photographs by Snap Shots Unlimited Photography.
Achieve this classic and elegant look by pairing peach, teal, white and gray – and don’t be afraid to combine texture and tones for a touch of vintage-inspired chic.
1950s Wedding Style
The 1950s wedding look is a mixture of feminine laces, muted colors and jewelry pieces that exist in cohesion, each beautifully complimenting the other.
(Above) A simple lace dress such as this one by Bancroft Bridals worn with a classic pair of heels adorned with a folded bow is the perfect attire for a 1950s bride. For more vintage-inspired wedding gown inspiration, browse through our collection of Vintage Wedding Gown Designs by Immagika.
(Above) The wedding bands should also reign from the 1950s era of classic elegance. From Cleary Jewelers, select a 1940’s inspired platinum engagement ring with an exquisite round diamond surrounded by a circle of round diamonds, while additional round diamonds accent along the shank and adds to a weight of 1.5 ct. For the wedding band, a 1ct eternity-style ring graced with diamonds and set in platinum is ideal. For the groom, a platinum 8mm wide wedding band accented with stripes in center, all done in a high polished finish is a perfect choice.
(Above) To accentuate the classic 1950s bridal look, pair simple and effortlessly timeless jewelry such as these vintage-inspired 14ct white gold dangle earrings also provided by Cleary Jewelers. Lined with emerald cut diamonds and set in platinum with millgrain accents, it is a striking choice.

Vintage looks from other eras are also flattering for your wedding day. Learn how to create your own, by following our expert’s 15 Steps to Achieving the Perfect 1920′s /1930′s Vintage Bridal Looks.
(Above) Boutonnieres should be a mix of textures and tones. Combine delicate whispyness of cotton, the plump richness of a single white miniature orchid and the awakening colors of teal and green.
(Above) Create a natural backdrop made from a mix of tree branches, flowers, greenery and metal. Perfect as a wedding ceremony and photo shoot backdrop, spray paint the branches white and plant them in a stone bed behind the wedding altar, as Eutopia Events has done. Build upon the painted branches with an assortment of white and peach flowers, greenery and metal.
1950s Wedding Ceremony and Decor
Decor elements comprising the 1950s wedding theme should have a certain flair about them to reflect the stylish wedding extravaganza that is taking place.
(Above) As the first glimpses of what your guest can expect, your wedding invitation should be a collection of immaculately stylish pieces. Eutopia Events creates an all-in-one grand dusty silver gray envelope containing the details of the wedding ceremony, reception, accommodation details and a matching response card, penned using matching gray ink and peach embellishments.
(Above) Forgo a traditional petal-lined wedding ceremony aisle by creating an elegant accent along the pathway to the altar. Decorate the aisle chairs with coordinating ribbons of teal, gray and peach.
1950s Wedding Reception
For the wedding reception décor, envision touches of rich colors of teal and peach combined with vibrant greenery and modern metals.
(Left) Create a teal and lace seating card display with strips of teal ribbon secured on a lace overlay, such as this display board created by Eutopia Events. Slip small place cards by Megan Chapin Calligraphy along the lines of ribbon.
Another idea is to create an alfresco lounge area furnished with décor items collected from local stores, thrift shops and even your self-owned treasures.
Create cosy nooks where your guests can gather and engage in intimate conversations while sipping on their martinis. For comfort and beauty, combine white lace overlays with ruffles for your seating décor.
Be sure to add a dazzling style to the affair with dramatic martini glasses filled with twin olives. A flawless white fondant wedding cake with pale peach sugar flowers and gray ribbon such as this wedding cake design by Custom Cakes by Amanda, will hold its own in this vast wedding setting.
(Above) To achieve structured harmony for the table decor, square teal charger plates should serve as a canvas for each place setting. An arrangement of plain white square dinner plates, silver cutlery and glassware such as these provided by PS Event Rentals should exude a classy, yet understated extravagant. Guests should be thanked with a small favor, such as these unassuming peach favor boxes filled with a secret decadent treat.
(Above) Fold the napkins into plate-sized square pockets to snugly accommodate the place cards with each guest’s name created using scalloped-edged paper, such as these stylish place cards provided by Megan Chapin Calligraphy.
(Above) As with Edge Floral Design, be guided by the color palette of peach, teal, white and gray, by incorporating these colors in a combination of flowers and other items such as wire, aluminum and wool.
(Above) The grandeur of expensive cigars presented on a silver platter will ensure that your guests are spoiled with only the best. Display silver cigar platters in harmony with the soft peach and green hues of your silver-potted floral decor. Scatter a few small silver tea light holders strategically amongst the table decor to create the illusion of tiny flickering sources of light.
(Above) Incorporate Edge Floral Design’s top flower choices like these silver bruins, ornamental kale, white miniature cymbidium orchids, “Porcelana” spray roses, dahlias, crocosmia pods and succulents.
